Date
Monday, March 30, 2020 Monday, March 30, 2020
Location
Embassy Suites - Alexandria Old Town 1900 Diagonal Road Alexandria VA 22314
Presentation by Carl Fowler, noted rail tour operator and Association Vice-Chair, benefiting the "Jim Hamre Memorial Scholarship Fund".
The program includes slides of both the great (the real Super Chief, DZ, CZ, RGZ, 20th Century, etc), the good (the Rio Grande Prospector, the Phoebe Snow) and the bad (the Pennsy's laughable Chicago-Cincinnati daylight local in 1967, the Frisco's final KC--Birmingham plug) and contrasts them with trains of the current era. There is even some preservation material--particularly emphasizing lines like the White Pass and Yukon and the Silverton, which can actually function as transportation as well as a train ride. Carl has included a selection of amazing slides VIA Rail Canada released to its tour company partners just before everything went digital, which include things like a helicopter flyover sequence of the Canadian in Jasper National Park.
$25.00 PER PERSON - ALL ARE WELCOME!

"The COVID Pandemic has been and continues to be the biggest challenge faced by Americans as it has taken a deadly toll on the world and on the world’s economies. During COVID Locomotive Engineers at Amtrak and other Passenger and Freight Railroads have embodied the definition of essential workers. This dedication by our members is not new. We applaud the Rail Passenger’s Association for recognizing the vital contributions of our members and their hard work moving Americans and freight during the COVID pandemic."
Dennis Pierce, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) National President
